Peter is the go-to animal man at the Caves!
As well as being a tour guide at the Caves, Pete and his wife Jodi also operate “Little Aussie Encounters”
Jodi & Peter travel around the CQ region attending schools, child care centers & shopping centers and educating & providing youth a real hand on learning experience with Australian native wildlife
Peter and his lovely wife Jodi quite often attend the Capricorn Caves with their entourage of native animals, when the caves are hosting school camps.
They have a range of animals from giant cockaroaches, snakes to possums & sugar gliders!
Little Aussie Encounters will also be attending on the day at our Fossil Open Day so if you would like to see some wildlife make sure you come & find Peter and Jodis display!

Short Bio – I grew up in Victoria. In 1988 I signed up for the Armed Forces and was posted to Townsville, Queensland. In 1992 I married my wife Jodie and we started a family (2 boys). After many different career paths I finally followed my dreams, working with Crocodiles & our amazing Australian wildlife at Billabong Sanctuary Townsville. 2008 we moved to Rockhampton to further my knowledge with Crocodiles at Koorana Crocodile Farm, after 12 months I left the industry & pursued other career paths. In 2014 my wife & I started a wildlife demonstration business, Little Aussie Encounters with the opportunity to educate about our unique Aussie wildlife & the importance to preserve their habitat through a hands on experience. In August 2017 I had an awesome opportunity to continue our business and join the Capricorn Caves team as a tour guide, combining my passions to be able to educate the public, locals, interstate or internationals about how awesome our country is to live in.
Now tell us something that may surprise us about you! – I’m not one to keep surprises, I’m like an open book. I’ve always been passionate about the Australian bush & wildlife, enjoy the Australian way of life, looking after your mates, having a laugh, enjoying a joke or two. I may enjoy the odd occasional dress up & have been known to sing just a little.
