Come and celebrate 2022 National Science Week at Capricorn Caves, Saturday 20th August & Sunday 21st August, 2022
All your favourite cave adventures over one weekend, and more! Come along on Saturday evening for a special tour through the enchanting Cathedral Cave. You may even see the cute Little Bent-Wing Bats on their night flight. Then, join astronomer Dr John McGrath on a journey around our spectacular starry sky using a telescope. Chef Mick will be serving his yummy burgers and our Bat Bar will be open for drinks. Chat and relax around the camp fire while the kids watch a fun science-themed movie nearby in our Discovery Room. You can even stay overnight in one of our cabins or eco tents.
Sunday is jam-packed with activities. Harness up and try our eight metre Climbing Wall, grab a head torch and explore the cave chambers and tunnels, or take it easy and learn about the ancient reef that formed our cave on a Cathedral Cave tour. Join our local palaeontology experts to unearth Megafauna era fossils, looking at them closely under a magnifying glass. Meet Malachi from Rocky Instincts at his Cutting Edge Fire Workshop. Check out a variety of nature displays and activities from FBA, CQU, Shell World and more. Of course, the day would not be complete without Face Painting and Bat Craft especially for the kids. There will be a lunch time sausage sizzle supporting the Rural Fire Brigade, or purchase fresh sandwiches, cakes and coffees on site.
This weekend event includes both free and paid experiences. Saturday Night Food Package, Saturday Night Accommodation and All Cave Tours & Workshops must be pre-booked through the Capricorn Caves website www.capricorncaves.com.au Free parking is available, but please follow directions from staff on arrival.
We look forward to celebrating the 2022 National Science Week at the Capricorn Caves with you.
